We’re two sisters, Emily and Sarah, from a little town in Wisconsin who hopped on a plane, sipped some great wine, and knew we had to bring it back (for you, obviously)!

"Every time I would tell a friend I was starting a wine company they would apologize to me for not knowing enough about wine. To me, this was crazy! People who drink beer don’t feel the need to know where the hops come from – why should wine be any different? We’ve become really determined to change this mindset. It’s a high goal, but we’ll start small and work our way there.

How we got started

The idea of Vinat was born on a rainy day after visiting one of our favorite vineyards outside of Barcelona. Sarah working on her MBA in Spain gave us a great chance to learn more about the wine industry. Through a budding love of wine we recognized an opportunity to shake up an industry we're passionate about.

What's a Vinat?

Creating the name Vinat as a homage to the city and country that had become home felt natural. "Viatge" is a Catalan word meaning trip or journey. Catalonia is home to our beloved city of Barcelona. "Vino" is a Spanish word meaning wine. "Vinat" combines "Viatge" and "Vino" and means "Wine Journey."

How do you pronounce Vinat? (Vin - not) When in doubt, it sounds like "Wine not?"

Choosing the right wine is tough!

We want to know that the wine we're drinking is going to be good, will pair with whatever food we're feeling that day, and be easy to reorder. The dream! We started Vinat because we realized we weren't the only ones feeling this way.

The wine industry is often over-complicated. We're not trying to turn you into a sommelier – we want to help you learn what you like. Because let's face it, it's always a good thing when you know how to ask for what you want.

At the heart of being trustworthy in our eyes is delivering quality products. We would never sell you something we wouldn't use ourselves. Everything we sell, from wine to merchandise, has undergone an in-depth product selection process.

Girl Power

Vinat is a wine company in a male-dominated industry made by women, for women.

As a sister-founded, women-led company, we want to use our platform to empower, support, and advocate for other women. We're constantly seeking new ways to support women and minorities with Vinat, from supporting underrepresented winemakers to sourcing label art from lesser-known artists.
